I first met Qin and her two children when I visited China in 2007 and stayed there for a month. During my visit she helped me with a dental problem and didn’t stop thereafter, most especially when I lived in China for two years from the end of August 2010 to the end of August 2012. She is a quiet, calm, deep-thinking, almost secretive person with a lovely smile
During that time she was a very close but never intimate friend. She lived both in Shanghai and Beijing and through her I was able to experience the closeness of the Li family, meet her friends and stay for longer periods in Beijing as well as go with her on a visit to Jingdezhen, the earliest centre for the production of porcelain beginning over 1,000 years ago.
